Drawing & Position of Stock

1.  A stand= ard order of events shall be followed for every NDRA rodeo and slack.  The order shall be:  bareback riding, calf roping, brea= kaway roping,  s= addle bronc riding,  steer wrestling= ,  team roping, ladies barrel racing,= sr. men’s breakaway roping, goat tying, & bull riding.  The same order will be followed in slack.  Other optional events = may be placed in between regular events at the rodeo committee= s discretion. (This is stated in a different section of the rule book & can be stricken.)

2.  The boa= rd has the right to declare any stock unsatisfactory and any stock so declared wil= l be taken from the draw.  For any = head of stock to be withdrawn from another contest the director of that event mu= st have received a complaint of the stock at three different rodeos. That anim= al will then be removed from the draw of that event.  The director will bring the expell= ing action before the board and the board will review the expulsion to determin= e if the animal should be placed back in the event. The director will notify the stock contractor of each complaint for the withdrawal. (This rule to be stricken and replaced by passage in the Timed Event section.)

3.  Animals for all events will be ins= pected before the draw and no sore,  lame,  sick,  or injured animals or animals with defective eyesight shall be permitted in the draw at any time.  Should an animal become sick or be injured between the time it is drawn and the time it is scheduled for use in competition,  that animal  shall not be used in competition and  another an= imal shall be drawn for the contestant. the extra animal drawn shall be used for the contestant.

 

 

TIMED EVENTS

 

General Rules

 

36. Unsatisfactory Animals i= n the Timed Events

 

A timed event representative may decla= re a timed event animal, or herd of animals unsatisfactory if the animal (1) is considered by the timed event representative or judge to be unhealthy or not suitable for competition, (2) has in the past caused safety concerns for a contestant or his horse, (3) would cause an uneven competition if used.

 

Upon notification to the contractor, e= ither verbal or written (if verbal, written notification must follow) the contrac= tor must not use the animal in that event. The animal may not be used at any ot= her NDRA rodeo if reasons 2 & 3 are invoked. The animal may be used at anot= her NDRA rodeo if  reason 1 is invoked, only if the animal is deemed healthy to compete on at the next rodeo.

 

A fine of $100 will be assessed to the contractor if the animal was declared unsatisfactory by reasons 2 & 3 is brought to another NDRA rodeo in the same event. This fine will progressive= ly double if the same animal is still brought to multiple NDRA rodeos.

 

 

 

Steer Wrestling

 

6 a. Animals used for t= his contest should be closely inspected and objectionable ones eliminated.  Contestants will not be required to compete on a crippled steer or a steer with a broken horn.  All steers must have horns tipp= ed to satisfaction of the event director or his representative.  If contestant jumps at steer, he ac= cepts it as sound. Contestant will be disqualified if he attempts in any way to tamper with steer or chutes.

  b. The horns on Steer Wrestling cattle must be blunted to the size of a dime. Horns must be no less than 9” in length on each side. Failure to abid= e by this rule will result in a fine of $25 per animal not meeting these requirements against the stock contractor or rodeo committee. Judges are to inspect and report non-compliance to the NDRA office. Judges may be fined if event director deems the steers non-compliant and the judges didn’t report it.

  c. Steers horns that are u= nable to pass through the timed event chute must be trimmed prior to competition.= Non compliance will result in a $50 fine per animal unable to pass through the chute.

 

Finals Rulebook Changes

 

Breakaway – During the Breakaway roping a person= shall be on the opposite side of the flag judge and shall watch for legal head catches. This person shall be appointed by the flag judge at the finals.

 

Cattle – Timed event contractors for the finals = shall be paid $400 for each pen of cattle if it is a two performance finals. If t= he final is three performances, the contractors shall be paid $600 for each pe= n.

 

Organization of the Board and Officers=

1.  The boa= rd of directors will be composed of three (3) officers (President, Vice President, Executive Secretary), nine (9) event directors,  one (1) optional event director, e= ight (8) committee members, one (1) contract member, one (1) stock Contractor director, and the immediate past president officer.

2.  The eve= nt directors, committee members, and stock contractor director will be elected= on a two-year basis with the terms to be staggered so that approximately half = of the board members are elected on a yearly basis.  In even numbered years:  BB, BR, SW, SMT, LBK, Contract Act= s, Area #1-2-3-4; odd numbered years:  SB, CR, TR, LBR, Stock Contractor, Area #1-2-3-4.

Contestants

1.  All contestants entering the arena must wear appropriate western attire include: cowboy hats, long sleeved shirts, long pants and boots.  With the exception of visible phys= ical injuries or a Dr. Notice, contestants will not be permitted to wear sweatsh= irts or athletic shoes.  This provi= sion applies to periods prior to and during rodeo performances as well as during slack.  A judge, arena directo= r, NDRA officer, or event director shall have the authority to enforce this provision.

 

Rule Change:

Contestants

A contestant not in appropriate attire at designated t= imes will be disqualified.  A judge,  ar= ena director, NDRA officer, or event director shall have the authority to enfor= ce this provision.

 

12.  A contestant will be disqualified = if he or she competes out of turn according to the official judge’s sheets.=
